How do I prep a target list before a healthcare conference?

Walk into the show with a ranked list of who to meet, not a badge scanner and hope.

Prep a target list before a conference by matching the attendee and exhibitor list to your ICP, scoring it by fit, and arriving with a ranked plan of who to meet, so your team spends the show on high-fit accounts instead of collecting random badges. The work that makes an event pay off happens before it starts.

This is the pre-event guide, building the who-to-meet list before you go. For scoring the badges you capture at and after the show, see the post-event guide, how do I score tradeshow and event leads?

Why is a scanned badge pile not enough?

Scanning everyone who walks by produces a list with no priority, and by the time it is scored weeks later the moment has passed. Prepping beforehand means your reps know on day one which twenty conversations matter, and they can book them in advance rather than hoping to bump into the right people on the floor.

How do I build the pre-event list?

Take the attendee or exhibitor list, match it to your CRM and to public sources, score each account by fit, and flag existing customers and open opportunities so no one pitches an account that is already in a deal. Here public data means the company website and LinkedIn to confirm the right org and person, Google reviews and Instagram for consumer-facing verticals, and public registries where the vertical is clinical. SignalRx scores the imported list the same way it scores inbound and writes the tier to Salesforce, so the ranked plan lives where reps already work. For attendees you do not yet sell to there is no internal history, so the fit read is triangulated from those external public sources, with provider taxonomy in NPPES, CCN-keyed CMS size and setting, and ownership signals like MSO or private-equity backing anchoring identity, and sparse rows on the attendee list are filled from those sources so every account is scoreable. For accounts that are already customers, your own internal signals of revenue, support, and usage over time feed the fit and health scores instead. SignalRx scores accounts and contacts alike and lets inference decide which source to trust for each record.

Fit tierWho it isPlan for the show
High FitOn-profile accounts you do not yet sell toBook meetings in advance, top priority
Moderate FitPlausible accounts worth a conversationDrop by the booth if time allows
Existing customerCurrent accounts attendingRoute to the account owner for expansion
No FitOff-profile attendeesSkip, do not spend floor time

Illustrative example

Illustrative, based on how SignalRx customers work. A company selling a compliance platform to ambulatory surgery centers gets the attendee list for a regional ASC conference. SignalRx matches and scores it. A High Fit account, an independent 6-center ASC group in Georgia with no existing relationship, tops the list and the rep books a meeting before the show. Two attendees turn out to be existing customers and route to their owners for expansion talks. The off-profile hospital vendors score No Fit and are left off the plan.

What about the leads I capture at the show?

Score them on arrival too, so hot booth leads get fast follow-up while the conversation is fresh. The full post-event motion is in scoring tradeshow and event leads.

Key takeaways

  • The payoff of an event comes from prep, not the badge scanner.
  • Match the attendee list to your ICP and score it before you go.
  • Flag customers and open deals so no one double-pitches.
